Is mild spotting and some cramping normal at this point in my pregnancy? - spotting and no period

I am 37 weeks pregnant and the last hour or two, I got some small stains and some lower abdominal cramps. Much more than anything to feel that uncomfortable, but not like contractions. I do not remember having pain with my son, but it was too 16 years ago. No real pressure, not more than usual. I am a little worried. I really need real advice from someone who has given it. Cause for concern or normal in the later stages of pregnancy.
